Biography/Pictures
Edward was adopted, grew up in a good home and was well educated. He became a school administrator and was organist at Trinity Lutheran Church in Mount Oliver, Washington, PA. He somehow learned of his father, Edward, and wished to know something of his natural family. He contacted the family through Gene Kennedy. At this point Gene arranged a reception held at the Cabot Methodist church in April 1992 to enable the interested family members to meet him, and for him to see what kind of family he belonged to by birth.
Mother's (Ruth Freehling Hesselgesser) letter of April 14, 1992 reads: Sunday turned out very well after the shock of seeing "Daddy" wore off. no one could ever deny the relationship. My first glance startled me...It would have saddened you...glad you could not be there. Ed had a build or stature like your father, short. Mannerisms or should I say - action. I do not know the word maybe expression will do, but-he is dying with cancer. he has a good life and has been well educated. His wife, daughter and husband and their two children were there and all spoke. He also played the organ for us. There is just too much to write. When you come home, we will have a long talk, almost like a book..."
