John Hesselgesser was born in Butler County, Pa., July 1, 1858 and died at his home in Palmer, Nebr., August 8, 1931. He had not been in good health for some time, but recently had failed rapidly.
Mr. Hesselgesser was married Nov. 18, 1879 to Clara McCurly of Butler County, Pa. They came to Nebraska in 1881, having engaged in farming most of the time until they came to Palmer in October, 1924. They previously resided near Archer for sixteen years, and Cotesfield for five years.
Beside his wife, Mrs. Clara Hesselgesser, who survives him, there are six living children, Mrs. Nellie Pemberton of Palmer, Nebr., Frank of Central City, Nebr., Roy and Solon of Elba, Nebr, and Mrs. Ina Cronk of Sanol (sic) Nebr., and Mrs. Laura Groetzinger of Cotesfield, Nebr. One brother and one sister survive Mr. Hesselgesser, Robert Hesselgesser of Burwell, Nebr., and Millie Newcob of Benton, Kansas.
Mr. Hesselgesser was a man of simple tastes, integrity, and cheerful character.
His greatest delight was in the associations of the family circle and friends in the home. He enjoyed the respect and regard of those who knew him.
Funeral services were held at the Methodist Episcopal church, Palmer, Nebr. at 2 P.M. August 10, 1931, and were conducted by the pastor Rev. E. H. Tipton, interment was made at Rose Hill cemetery.
