Jack was one of the first persons in America to have successful open heart surgery. Jack was also a pilot in WWII. He walked away from five crash landings while serving and lived to return home. He was given an honorable discharge from the service and then went on to become a test pilot at the Fort Worth Air Field (now known as NASB - we all know it as Carswell AFB). He was also a member of the Shriners.
