Tom graduated from Pitt with a degree in psychology. He worked for Proctor and Gamble when he married Cheryl Ann Macurdy in 1967. Tom and Cheryl have lived in New York, north Pittsburgh and have lived in Florida since 1989. Tom owns a business which supplies vending machine snacks and at one point, marketed a coffee labeled "Appleton".
